Joliet's Homicide: Francis Street Gunshot Victim, 29, Identified

Tuesday night's Joliet shooting happened less than a block away from the 2020 deadly shooting of Floyd Faint Sr. in his driveway.

JOLIET, IL — Four people were shot — one fatally — in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night while they were walking in the 700 block of Francis Street on Joliet's east side. The 29-year-old homicide victim has been identified as Andrew Knox of Joliet.

Knox's body was found in the street, and he suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office announced.

All four shooting victims were men. Three of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m.

Two of the victims were rushed by Joliet Fire Department ambulances to Silver Cross Hospital. The third survivor was taken to the hospital in someone's vehicle.

Joliet's Bob Hernandez went to the crime scene to produce one of his Facebook Live videos. Hernandez indicated that police were keeping people away from a parked car that was being treated as a crime scene.

Detectives and police officers were trying to interview neighbors and witnesses in hopes of developing leads pertaining to the shooter and the getaway vehicle.

Tuesday night's shooting marked the first homicide of the year in Joliet.

The Will County Sheriff's Office has investigated two separate homicides — both just outside city limits — in Joliet Township.

Tuesday's shooting happened less than a block away from the April 28, 2020, homicide of Floyd Faint Sr., who was fatally shot in an ambush killing shortly after he pulled into his driveway on a weekday afternoon.

Faint's killing remains unsolved.
