Joliet Sooper Lube Fires Employees Over Racist Video

JOLIET, IL — The long-time manager of the Joliet Sooper Lube announced this week on Facebook that he has fired several employees in connection with a racist video that was made inside the business and distributed on social media.

"Late on Friday, September 27, 2019, several of my then-employees of Sooper Lube Inc. in Joliet posted an unauthorized video which was taken in our shop. This video in no way reflects the opinions and values of this company," manager Chuck Nolan informed the business' customers and followers on Facebook.

Nolan has managed the Joliet shop since 1982. Sooper Lube is located in the 1100 block of West Jefferson Street.

"Those employees involved were immediately terminated on Monday when I learned of the existence of this video. I was not present when the video was being created and took immediate action upon discovery. We are taking measures to ensure that this type of conduct does not occur in the future," Nolan explained on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Joliet Central High School social studies teacher Ernest Crim, who is a public speaker and community activist, also posted his reaction to the news of the video being shown on social media.
