Coroner IDs 3 Joliet Gunshot Victims

Residents on Great Falls Drive expressed confidence that Joliet's Police Department will solve the triple murders swiftly.

JOLIET, IL — Will County Coroner Patrick K. O'Neil released the identities of three homicide victims late Friday afternoon. Their bodies were discovered shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday inside a home in Joliet's Cumberland subdivision in the 2000 block of Great Falls Drive. The victims were Anthony M. McGee, 22, of West Chicago, Gabriella M. Rueda, 22, of West Chicago, and Emmanuel Hernandez-Arroyo, 22, of Plainfield. O'Neil said all three victims died from multiple gunshots.

McGee had lived at the home on Great Falls Drive where he was found murdered on Thursday. On two different occasions when McGee was booked into the Will County Jail, in 2013 and 2015, authorities listed his address as being in the 2000 block of Great Falls Drive. In 2013 when McGee was 18 years old he was charged with armed robbery. He was accused of putting a knife to a 16-year-old boy's throat during a crime on Wesmere Parkway near Caton Farm Road. McGee was also in jail for several months in 2015 and 2016 after being arrested by the Joliet Police Department on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.

On Friday, the Joliet Police Department mobile crime scene command unit remained parked along Great Falls Drive.

"I'm waiting for an arrest," remarked one of the neighbors, Tracy Gould. "Waiting for an arrest, darn right," agreed another of the nearby neighbors, Brenda Guethle.

The two women said they have lived in the Cumberland subdivision since around 2001. They said they were familiar with the family who had lived at the home, the residence with yellow crime scene tape draped across the front yard. A couple doors down, the two neighbors stood on their porch watching as the Joliet police officers continued walking in and out of the home where the triple murder occurred.

"They've been doing a great job," Guethle said. "They've been very calm, and they are not making a lot of noise."

These are nice single-family homes along Great Falls Drive. The site of the homicides, which is in Joliet but has a Plainfield mailing address, is near County Line Road between Caton Farm Road and Theodore Street. Many of these homes in the Cumberland subdivision were built around 2001, neighbors said.

"It's a shocker," Guethle told Joliet Patch. "There was nothing out of the ordinary, just your average American family. It's just shocking. It's very speechless." "All the kids used to play together, right out there," said Gould, pointing to the seldom-traveled neighborhood street. On Friday, at least eight Joliet Police vehicles were parked along Great Falls Drive.

At the moment, the neighbors are putting their faith in the Joliet Police Department to apprehend the culprit or culprits responsible for this Joliet triple murder. The two women who spoke with Patch on Friday morning emphasized that they did not hear any gunshots the night of the killings.

Police officials have surmised the triple murder may have happened during the early morning hours of Thursday. The neighbors said that young adults, perhaps in their twenties, were often coming and going from the residence.

"The news is gangs and drugs. That's just the sidewalk talk," Guethle said.

Both neighbors agree they want the killer caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

"I would love to see justice for that family," Gould said.

"There is absolutely no room for any of this in our neighborhood," Guethle added.

Sadly, all too often, Guethle explained, people are being murdered everywhere "for such stupid things."

"It's always for something stupid," she repeated.
