Joliet Votes Yes on Parks: $19.5 Million Referendum Passes
More than 70 percent of voters in Will and Kendall counties backed the referendum to fund park improvements.

Parks were a priority for Joliet voters on Tuesday, with more than 70 percent of voters saying yes to a $19.5 million Joliet Park District referendum.
The funding will pay for a new activity center on the east side of Joliet, along with renovating 23 parks and resurfacing roads and trails in Pilcher Park.
The measure passed by a vote of 17,204-7,239 in Will and Kendall counties combined.

The estimated cost per year for the owner of a home valued at $100,000 is about $20.50.
All election results are unofficial until they are canvassed and confirmed seven to 14 days after the election. Absentee ballots and such will be counted after election day, and City of Aurora results will be added after Nov. 25, according to the Will County clerk’s office.
