Joliet West Cheer Team Wins State: Video
A video of Saturday's Joliet West performance is included in this Patch article.

JOLIET, IL - On Saturday evening, a number of Joliet residents remarked on social media about hearing loud noise and commotion over near Joliet West High School. Why were Joliet Fire Department trucks descending on 401 North Larkin Avenue, they wondered? They were unaware, of course, that the Joliet West fan bus had just returned to Joliet West High School in a celebratory mood. The Joliet West varsity cheerleaders captured the state title at the IHSA Cheerleading Competition at the US Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. The girls competed on Friday night and Saturday.

Joliet Township High School District 204 issued a press release late last week informing students and school supporters that the team was competing at state.
“This has been an incredible season so far,” said Amy DiForti, head varsity cheerleading coach. “The cheerleaders have worked extremely hard this year and I could not have asked for a better group of kids. Words cannot express how proud I am of this team.”
