Overdose Death Of Joliet West Student: Drug Homicide Charges Filed

JOLIET, IL — Seven months after the death of Joliet West freshman student Faithe Conley, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed drug-induced homicide charges against 21-year-old Will County Jail inmate Dametreas Triplett.

According to Friday's criminal complaint, the defendant delivered a controlled substance, fentanyl, to another, a minor, and Faithe Conley's death was caused by the ingestion of any amount of that controlled substance.

Triplett has been locked away from society since Feb. 17, which is five days after the death of the 15-year-old Joliet girl.

While jail records listed him as being homeless, the warrant for Triplett's arrest listed him as being a resident of the 1200 block of Morgan Street.

On Friday, Joliet Police Department spokesman Dwayne English said the following events from February led to the filing of the new criminal charges for Triplett:

  • At 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 12, police officers and paramedics from the Joliet Fire Department were sent to a residence in the 900 block of Cypress Lane for an unresponsive 15-year-old girl.
  • Officers found the unresponsive girl in a bedroom. Despite life-saving measures performed by Joliet Fire Department paramedics, the victim was eventually pronounced dead by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
  • Joliet police discovered the victim may have overdosed from ingesting a controlled substance.

According to her obituary, Faithe Conley, 15, graduated from Rockdale Elementary School with High Honors and Hufford Jr. High. She was a freshman at Joliet West High School.

"Faithe was a loving daughter and will be dearly missed," her obituary noted.

  • Following this investigation, Joliet police detectives identified Triplett as the suspect in the delivery of a controlled substance believed to be ingested by the victim.
  • On Thursday, Joliet police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Triplett on new charges of delivery of a controlled substance and drug induced homicide. A Will County Judge set bail at $500,000. Triplett remains incarcerated at the Will County Adult Detention Facility on his previous unrelated charges.

Triplett' snew total bail stands at $1,250,000.
