Another Arrest At U.S. Steel For Joliet Woman: Cops
For the third time this year, Joliet police have arrested Kayla Patton. It's the second time she was captured at the old U.S. Steel mill.

JOLIET, IL — Three months after her arrest inside the abandoned U.S. Steel property on Joliet's Collins Street, 34-year-old Manhattan Road resident Kayla Patton is back in the Will County Jail, this time with a $75,000 bail, after Joliet police say she was burglarizing the property once again.
On Monday, Joliet police delivered Patton to the jail around 10 p.m. and now she's being charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following sequence of event led to Patton's capture:

- Around 3:25 p.m., Joliet police went to the U.S. Steel site at 927 Collins to assist the Will County Sheriff’s Office in searching for a missing person. Upon arrival, officers spotted Patton on the north side of the property. While speaking with Patton, officers saw multiple backpacks next to her that appeared to contain numerous hand tools and other tools commonly used to cut metal.
- Police say Patton had been using the tools to remove metal from the property. Upon further search of the backpacks, officers recovered suspected methamphetamine.
