Joliet Woman Put Inside Oven During Domestic: Police

Joliet police say officers arrived and determined that Traveon Thompson choked the pregnant woman while in a bedroom in the residence.

JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail facing aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery charges after Joliet police say Traveon Thompson choked a woman and tried to put her into the oven on Tuesday evening at his house in the 100 block of Morris Street.

The incident happened at 7:50 p.m.

  • Officers responded to the Thompson residence in the 100 block of Morris for a domestic disturbance. Thompson choked the pregnant woman while in a bedroom in the residence. The victim escaped to the living room where Thompson pushed her onto a couch and again choked her.
  • The attack continued in the kitchen, where Thompson shoved the victim into the oven. Thompson initially took the victim’s phone from her, but she managed to retrieve her phone and call 911.
  • Thompson was on the scene and was placed into custody without incident.
