Will County Judge Carjacked In Chicago

Print newspaper editor Joe Hosey interviewed Will County's chief judge about the incident.

JOLIET, IL - Will County Judge Dave Carlson was the victim of a late night carjacking in Chicago's Greektown late Thursday night, according to a story written by Joe Hosey, editor of Joliet's print newspaper. The Joliet Herald-News interviewed Chief Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt who was also in Chicago Thursday night for a Hellenic Bar Association Event.

The Herald-News reported that Judge Carlson got attacked by three young men after he went to get into his Chevy Suburban after going to a restaurant and buying a bottle of water at a Walgreens.

"I'm hearing here and there there was a bit of a physical thing, where they messed with him when they pulled him out of the car," Schoenstedt told Hosey.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Chicago Police told them that Carlson, 47, was returning to his vehicle in the Walgreens lot in the 100 block of South Halsted Street around 2 a.m. when several people approached him, put a hard object against his back, and ordered him to give up his keys or he’d be shot.

The criminals left in the stolen vehicle and nobody has been arrested as of yet for carjacking the judge from Will County, according to the Tribune's story.
