Home Confinement, Not Jail, For Joliet Domestic Abuse Defendant
Will County Judge Don DeWilkins allowed 53-year-old Toney Gavin of Joliet to regain his freedom after Joliet police arrested him this week.

JOLIET, IL — This week's arrest by Joliet police of 53-year-old previously convicted domestic battery defendant Toney Gavin of Joliet's east side —who is accused of grabbing his victim around her neck —will not result in Gavin's continued detention at the Will County Jail.
Judge Donald DeWilkins, who presides over most of the SAFE-T-Act decisions at the Will County Courthouse, decided to release Gavin from the Will County Jail on Thursday. The judge put Gavin on GPS electronic monitoring, and the Joliet man will remain under home confinement during the hours of 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., court records show.
Third, Gavin must stay at least 3,000 feet away from his victim and her apartment dwelling in the 900 block of Woodruff Road, on Joliet's east side, in the Forest Park area.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, Joliet police were called around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday to the apartment in the 900 block of Woodruff Road for a disturbance.
Officers determined that during an argument, Gavin attempted to choke the woman, and he wrestled her to a bed. Gavin was taken into custody without any problems, police noted.
