Judge Puts Allegation Against Other Judge Under Wraps

The girlfriend of Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes' son accused the judge of witnessing her son make a death threat.

The girlfriend of Will County Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes’ son swore under oath that the judge watched her son make a death threat—but another judge has put the allegation under seal and has banned the public from seeing it.

Grundy County Judge Robert Marsaglia ordered the petition for a protective order sought by Tanya Brandolino be impounded, the Will County Circuit Clerk’s Office confirmed.

Marsaglia impounded the entire case file and there is no longer any record or trace of it that can be seen by the public. Contacted Thursday, Marsaglia would not explain why he impounded the case file and said he never comments on pending matters.

Marsaglia suggested seeking answers from Edward Jaquays, the attorney for Judge Alessio Policandriotes’ son, Louis Goode. Jaquays failed to return calls for comment.

Goode, 29, was charged with attacking Brandolino, his 28-year-old girlfriend and the mother of his child. Goode allegedly battered and harassed Brandolino the night of Oct. 5 and into the following morning.

On that morning, Judge Alessio Policandriotes dropped by the Joliet house where Goode and Brandolino, as well their son, her child and her parents, were living, police said. While it’s not clear whether Alessio Policandriotes saw any of the alleged attack—and Undersheriff Jerome Nudera has refused to release police reports on the matter— Brandolino accused the judge of looking on as her son threatened to kill her.

“She got out of the car and said Lou get in the car,” Brandolino said in a petition for a protective order against Goode.

“He then threw the phone into the garage (and) he said in front of his mother I’m going to kill you you’ll never get custody of your son better get a good lawyer,” Brandolino said.

Judge Alessio Policandriotes then drove her son to his new job at the Will County courthouse, where he was hired to work as an office assistant. Goode managed to land the job despite being on probation for pleading guilty to a felony cocaine case in Missouri.

Marasaglia, a Grundy County judge, was assigned the case due to Alessio Policandriotes’ position in the Will County judiciary. Judge Marsaglia reduced Goode’s bond last week. Goode posted and was released, and went to live with his mother and stepfather, Will County Sheriff’s Detective Tony Policandriotes, at their Shorewood home.

Will County Chief Judge Richard Schoenstedt said on Thursday he was unaware Marsaglia had impounded the order of protection case and did not know the reason it was being kept from the public.

“I could say it’s unusual but not rare,” Judge Schoenstedt said of sealing the case off from the public.
