JOLIET, IL — Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified in the last two years.

July 4 is just around the corner, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

Joliet's fireworks:

What: As the third largest city in Illinois, Joliet will be the backdrop for several fireworks shows leading up to the celebration of our nation's independence on Monday, July 4.

Where: The City of Joliet and Joliet Junior College are partnering again to bring the residents of Joliet another Fourth of July fireworks display.

When: The 2022 display will be held at the JJC Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road, on Monday, July 4. People may begin entering the grounds at 6 p.m. via Elmer W. Rowley Drive. The show is expected to begin between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. Admittance to the grounds will be permitted until 9 p.m. but may end sooner based on parking availability.

All JJC campus buildings will be closed to public access. No alcohol or grilling is permitted on the grounds. Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to sit on to watch the fireworks show. The display will be set off in the Zales Arboretum area. While the arboretum area will be closed for safety reasons, people can sit in open grass areas and the parking lots for viewing.
