Kevin Spacey Apologizes To Joliet West's Anthony Rapp
Actor Kevin Spacey says he does not remember sexually assaulting fellow actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14.

JOLIET, IL - Joliet native Anthony Rapp, a graduate of Joliet West High School, told Buzzfeed during a weekend interview that fellow actor Kevin Spacey made strong sexual advances toward him back when he was only 14 years old. Rapp has had roles in several big movies including "Dazed and Confused," "A Beautiful Mind" and "Road Trip." He is now a cast member in "Star Trek: Discovery." On Sunday night, Spacey issued a statement that he does not remember any incident involving the Joliet actor.
"If I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior," Spacey said on Twitter. "I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years."
In the explosive Buzzfeed article, the now 46-year-old Joliet actor told the writer that the incident with Kevin Spacey occurred back in 1986. Buzzfeed reported that Rapp had relocated to New York from Joliet along with his mother, Mary, and that Rapp had even taken a semester off of school to appear on Broadway.

Rapp told Buzzfeed that he encountered Spacey at a Broadway post-show function, when a 17-year-old friend from Joliet was visiting him in New York. "And he was like, 'Hey! Hi! Come join us!'" Rapp said, according to Buzzfeed. Spacey then invited both boys to join him at the popular nightclub Limelight, even though, as Rapp explained, “I looked younger than 14.”
Later, Rapp claimed, he attended a party at Spacey's Manhattan apartment, where he says the assault took place. "He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold," Rapp told Buzzfeed. "But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?' And then he lays down on top of me. I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually."

According to Buzzfeed, Rapp said he does not remember if he ever told his mother, who died 20 years ago, about the party involving Spacey. "I imagine that I might be opening my poor late mother up to some criticisms for how she parented, but, you know, it was a different era," Rapp told Buzzfeed. "I went to work by myself. I would walk to the subway, and go to the theater by myself.”
