JOLIET, IL — Joliet's east-side has been the focus of several economic development and revitalization projects, but one longtime fast-food restaurant at 600 Collins St. did not survive the winter. The KFC-Taco Bell on Collins Street is now an empty building.
The sign has been taken down.
On Thursday night, Joliet Patch also found an online real estate advertisement for the vacant KFC-Taco Bell building. The building had been a joint KFC and Taco Bell. (Patch is thankful to one of our readers for proving the story tip.)

Meanwhile, there is a small sign on the main entrance door that encourages KFC chicken lovers to drive all the way to the west side of Joliet — to North Larkin Avenue — to enjoy a tasty KFC meal.

In the alternative, KFC urges you to drive all the way into Lockport to visit its KFC franchise there on West 159th Street.

Actually, east side fast-food chicken lovers don't need to travel that far.
After all, there is a Church's Chicken just a couple blocks away at the corner of Collins and Jackson Streets.
And if Church's isn't your liking, well, here's another option:
How about heading downtown to North Chicago Street and feasting on some of that delicious food at Joliet's Chicken-N-Spice?
Now, as far as tacos go, one of the absolute best taco restaurants in Joliet isn't far from the now-empty KFC-Taco Bell.
Nena's Cantina & Restaurant, the subject of last week's Joliet Patch food review column, is located at 701 Garnsey Ave.
