Laura Ingalls Wilder Among School Shows Coming To Rialto

Schools that order tickets before June 1 get a $1 per ticket discount.

Joliet, IL – Rialto Square Theatre is thrilled to announce our 2018-2019 School Matinee Series lineup, made possible by a generous donation from Midland States Bank. This series provides fun and educational experiences for school-age children, while fostering a love of live theatre and the opportunity to visit the beautiful Rialto Square Theatre. Orders for the 2018-2019 School Matinee Series are now being processed.

“Throughout the year we strive to find ways to connect with local schools. Through our student matinee series we hope to supplement arts education curriculum and foster a love and appreciation for the performing arts in tomorrow’s audiences,” Executive Director of the Rialto Square Theatre Val Devine said. “I am particularly excited about this season’s lineup as I think it’s the best one yet!”

Each show includes a downloadable study guide for educators. These guides are an excellent resource for educators as they create the lessons and curriculum around the shows and their content.

Anyone who reserves their tickets before May 31, 2018, will receive “last year’s pricing,” just $6 per ticket. Starting June 1, prices will increase to $7 per ticket. For more details about this special offer, visit www.rialtosquare.com/schoolmatinees.

Internationally renowned magician, Bradley Fields, captivates the audience with his famous magic illusions, and then teaches the secrets behind some startling math tricks. One of the foremost school matinees in the country, MatheMagic!® features world-class magic, comedy, and theatre. Amidst all the oohs, aahs, and laughter, Bradley Fields challenges, provokes, and elicits critical thinking. Kids (unknowingly!) practice classroom skills and problem- solving.

Amber Brown is Not a Crayon

Amber Brown is having what may be the worst year of her life. She and Justin Daniels were the perfect team: they laughed at each other’s jokes, sat next to each other in class, and stayed best friends when Justin’s dad had to move away. But now things are different. Now, Justin’s house has been sold and he is going to Alabama; that’s too far from New Jersey to think about.

ArtsPower’s uniquely funny and forthright musical portrays a feisty young girl who refuses to let her problems get the better of her. You’ll laugh and cry with Amber as she learns some valuable lessons about the virtues of patience and the meaning of forgiveness.

Told through a Hamilton-style performance, The Unauthorized Biography Series is a musical project that celebrate the world’s greatest cultural icons through biographical hip hop songs. Each chapter of the series captures the legacy of a positive and influential iconic figure in a documentary-style music video. Shaun Boothe is an award winning hip hop artist, TEDx speaker and creator of ‘The Unauthorized Biography Series’.

Each chapter of the series captures the legacy of an influential iconic figure in a documentary-style music video. Icons featured in the Rialto Square’s performance include Muhammad Ali, MLK Jr., former President Barack Obama, and Oprah Winfrey.
