Lone Star Steakhouse Bulldozed, Chick-fil-A Project Nears
Three years ago this month, Patch reported the Lone Star Steakhouse restaurant chain was closing its Joliet location.

JOLIET, IL — Demolition got underway Monday at the vacant Lone Star Steakhouse property along Plainfield Road. Once the ruins are hauled away, construction will start on Joliet's first Chick-fil-A restaurant.
In 2017, Patch reported that the Lone Star Steakhouse franchise was closing its Joliet restaurant near the Louis Joliet Mall. Redevelopment plans on the property for a Chick-fil-A restaurant featuring a double drive-thru were approved by the Joliet City Council in 2019.
During an interview Monday at City Hall, city economic development specialist Derek Conley told Joliet Patch that Chick-fil-A officials "want to be open at the beginning of 2021."

Conley said the demolition of the old Lone Star was a major step forward for the long awaited Chick-fil-A project in Joliet. "They are moving forward and that's going to be making way for the Chick-fil-A," he said of demolition efforts.
When Patch asked if Conley believes the Chick-fil-A will be ready to open during the early months of 2021, he responded, "it is realistic."
