Joliet Love's Development Lands Fast-Food Restaurant

Is this a fast-food restaurant you're glad to see opening on Joliet's east side?

JOLIET, IL - Last month, the Joliet City Council voted 6-3 to approve plans for a Love's Travel Stop near Interstate 80 and Briggs Street. Several people who lived in the area implored Joliet to reject the project, but city officials agreed there were far more positives than negatives. This week, the Joliet City Council approved plans to put a Hardee's Restaurant drive-thru at the Love's.

On Oct. 26, the city of Joliet's public works department got a formal request from Hardee's for a drive-thru facility at 1501 New Lenox Road.

"The restaurant will be located within the proposed Love's Travel Stop," the city memo reads. "Access to the site will be available from one new full access driveway on New Lenox Road. Upon final investigation, the Department of Public Works has determined that there is sufficient storage on site and therefore recommends approval of the drive-thru permit subject to approval of the engineering plan," city documents state.
