Man, 21, Shot Near Joliet's Eastern Avenue: Police

Joliet police officers investigated two separate shootings on Sunday night, both on the city's east side.

JOLIET, IL — A 21-year-old man in the 500 block of Dover Street suffered gunshot wounds on Sunday evening, but the shooting happened at a different location, according to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English. Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the gunshot victim was rushed to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, and he was in good condition.

Around 7:35 p.m., Joliet Fire sent ambulance 4 and engine 1 to a house on Dover Street to treat a shooting victim. The victim was sitting in a car in the driveway of the house, Blaskey said.

The victim told emergency crews he had been shot approximately 90 minutes earlier, Blaskey said. The Joliet Police Department is investigating the incident.

According to Joliet police reports, officers went to a residence in the 500 block of Dover Street after learning of a shooting. Police determined that the 21-year-old man had been shot near South Eastern Avenue and Washington Street.

"He heard gunshots from an unknown direction, and he was struck in the leg," Joliet police indicated.

Joliet police also investigated a Sunday night shooting on The Hill where a 2-year-old child and a 25-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds.
