Man, 31, With Special Needs Missing At Rock Run Rookery, Search Ongoing: Forest Preserve

JOLIET, IL — Forest Preserve District of Will County police are seeking the public’s help locating a missing man with special needs.

Leo Hara, a 31-year-old Joliet resident, was last seen Friday at 12:10 p.m. at Rock Run Rookery Preserve in Joliet. Hara is Asian and is 5-foot-2.

Police say he was last seen by Cornerstone Services staff while visiting the preserve. He was wearing a brown shirt and khaki pants.

A reverse 911 call has gone out to residents who live in the Rock Run Rookery area, and Forest Preserve police are working with Will County Sheriff’s Police to search the preserve.

The Joliet Fire Department has boats on the lake and divers have searched the water. The Cook County Sheriff's Police Department has a helicopter searching the site, and the Forest Preserve District is using a drone. Illinois and Wisconsin search and rescue teams are arriving at the site for a ground search. A Channahon Police Search and Rescue team is also assisting.

Rock Run Rookery Preserve is located on Youngs Road, south of Route 6/Eames Street.
