Man Shot Multiple Times at Joliet Gas Station: Police

Police found the man in the gas station parking lot lying in a pool of blood.

JOLIET, IL — Police are investigating a shooting incident Wednesday night at a Cass Street Shell Gas Station where a man was shot multiple times.

Officers were at the city gas pumps east of Cass Street and Henderson Avenue when they heard five shots ring out at around 7:53 p.m.

“The officers arrived around 20 to 30 seconds after the shots were fired to find a black male subject lying in the parking lot in a pool of blood,” Joliet Police Chief Ed Gregory said, adding that the man had received three gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to Silver Cross Hospital and later brought to Loyola Medical Center.

Police do have suspect information but are not releasing it at this time due to the ongoing investigation, Gregory said. It is unknown if the shooting was related to drugs or gang activity.
