Mediterranean Grill Closes On Plainfield Road
People raved about the quality of the sandwiches at Sindibad Grill on Plainfield Road, but now it's gone.

CREST HILL, IL — A Mediterranean grill that opened last December in the 2200 block of Plainfield Road has gone out of business after less than a year of business. Sindibad Grill was one of a number of Joliet area restaurants negatively impacted by the new coronavirus pandemic.
The operators of Sindibad Grill made a social media post announcing their closure Oct. 30.
The permanent closing happened even though Sindibad Grill had an impressive rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 among its 56 Google reviews.

Sindibad Grill had 235 Facebook likes from customers, however, the Crest Hill restaurant rarely utilized social media to promote its meals or interact with potential customers, a review of the Sindibad Grill Facebook page showed.

The takeout restaurant at 2228 Plainfield Road was also closed for several months during the height of the Illinois pandemic.

In late August, Sindibad announced on Facebook it was back open, but droves of people did not return to the restaurant that featured a Shawarma sandwich and seasoned fries for $5.99.
Sindibad's other meals included: Gyro. Kabob sandwich. Hot Dog. Falafel Sandwich. Zinger Chicken Sandwich. Burger. Entrees include: Lamb Chop. Tika. Shawarma Plate. Shish Tawook and Kafta Kabobs.
During a January interview with Joliet Patch, the owner of Sindibad Grill said he had spent 2019 remodeling and renovating the building.
Before he acquired it, the property had been a Vienna beef hot dog stand in the past.
Now, it's empty once again.
