Missing Grandmother of WNBA Player Found in Joliet

The Joliet Police Department received a call from an Applebee's restaurant for a report of a confused woman.

Joliet, IL — The grandmother of WNBA player and former Naperville Central student Candace Parker was found in Joliet after she was reported missing Monday.

Parker took to Facebook to spread the word of her missing grandmother, Joan Potter. Parker said she was last seen Monday around Huntley. She had last been spoken to at 11:15 a.m. July 4.

"When she did not arrive at her expected destination, family members went to her Huntley residence and found her and her vehicle missing from the home," Huntley police said.

At around 8 p.m. July 5, the Joliet Police Department received a call from an Applebee’s restaurant for a report of a confused woman, according to the Huntley Police Department.

Joliet police identified the woman as 82-year-old Potter.

“Ms. Potter was confused, but otherwise healthy and safe,” Huntley police said.

Potter’s family members were contacted and reunited with her in Joliet.

Parker plays basketball for the Los Angeles Sparks. She is the younger sister of former NBA player Anthony Parker, according to her Wikipedia page.

“She may be best known for being the first woman to dunk in an NCAA tournament game and the first woman to dunk twice in a college game,” her page said. “She also became only the second player to dunk in a WNBA game on June 22, 2008.”

She grew up in Naperville and attended Naperville Central High School.
