Mom On Heroin Found In Van With 2 Kids: Joliet Cops

Joliet Police arrested the Plainfield woman on Monday night.

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet Police Department arrested a 35-year-old Plainfield woman on Monday night after police say she had heroin in her van and her two kids were inside. Michelle Marie Brown, who lives in the 25000 block of West Sandbank Drive, was taken into custody shortly before 8 p.m. in the 300 block of Stone. Officers say they found two children in the van with Brown, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was twitching.

"When Brown stepped from the vehicle, in plain view in the driver’s seat was an uncapped syringe," Joliet Police said. "Officers searched the vehicle and discovered four more syringes along with drug equipment and suspected heroin, which later tested positive for the substance. All items were easily accessible by the children in the van."

Brown was taken to the Will County jail. She is charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, endangering the life of a child and possessing drug equipment.
