More Departures For Joliet's Police Administration
Joliet's City Council will vote Tuesday whether to fill one of the two empty deputy chief posts.

JOLIET, IL — More turnover continues within the Joliet Police Department's upper administration. Two of the city's four deputy police chiefs have now retired in 2018, and another deputy chief, Ed Gregory, may be the next to leave.
At Tuesday's meeting, the Joliet City Council will vote whether to allow city officials to post the job vacancy created by the departure of deputy chief of administration Tab Jensen. He retired in late July. In January, deputy police chief of technical services Brian Dupuis retired, but leaders inside City Hall have decided not to fill his open position.
On July 18, the Joliet Police Department Facebook page praised Jensen for serving the department for 27 years. Jensen worked as a patrolmen, sergeant, lieutenant, captain and ultimately became a deputy chief in October 2014. Jensen received numerous awards during his time with the city including a prestigious award for heroism.

As for Ed Gregory, multiple sources have told Joliet Patch that Gregory intends on retiring as deputy chief of operations in the next couple of months or so. On Friday, the city of Joliet's human resources director told Patch that Gregory has not submitted any formal paperwork giving the city notice of his retirement.
Patch subsequently left a voice mail message for Gregory seeking comment on his plans to retire but he did not call back. An October 2014 Joliet Patch article announcing Gregory's promotion to deputy chief noted that he had 24 years experience in the department at that time, and he had served in the U.S. Marines and had been in the Illinois Army National Guard.
