Morris Cocaine Dealer Arrested At Jewel On Jefferson: Police

Sarah Monroe already had one felony warrant for her arrest in Joliet.

JOLIET, IL - The criminal charges are mounting for a 34-year-old Morris woman who keeps breaking the law in Joliet, according to police. Last week, the Will County State's Attorney's Office obtained a bench warrant to arrest Sarah Monroe for delivery of a controlled substance. On Friday evening Joliet Police officers put her handcuffs at the Jewel-Osco on West Jefferson.

For that incident, Monroe is being charged with felony retail theft and aggravated battery. When Joliet officers got to the Jewel-Osco in the 1400 block of Jefferson, employees explained that "they saw Monroe take several items and leave without paying for the items. Staff stated that they confronted Monroe outside to stop her from leaving, when Monroe started pushing staff members continually trying to get away," police reports show.

Monroe did not want to be detained at the store because she knew that Jewel was calling the police, reports show. "Monroe continued to fight with the staff. Staff members showed officers scratch marks from Monroe caused during the struggle to detain her," reports show.
