“Music at Moser” Series Showcases the Arts at USF this Fall

USF Department of Music and Performing Arts to offer an array of exciting music and theater performances over the coming months

Joliet, Ill. – The University of St. Francis Department of Music and Performing Arts is proud to offer exciting music and theater performances to the Joliet and Will County communities. Ricardo Perra is a Chilean singer-songwriter whose solo voice and guitar performances have graced many stages from Chile and Mexico City to venues in the U.S. Perra will perform music ranging from bassa nova classics to his own music, which combines many influences from Latinx to Celtic styles.

The distinctive and rhythmic performances of enhakē have been praised as being “of the highest caliber” (Fanfare), “gorgeous” (Gramophone), and exciting (the BBC). Combining piano, clarinet, violin, and cello, enhakē brings a new and fresh perspective to music from many periods and styles both on stage and in their many recordings.

The Swinging Saints Swing in the Holidays

USF’s vocal jazz ensemble, the Swinging Saints, present their very first holiday program! This will be a potpourri of the sacred and the secular, of songs about people like Santa and Mr. Grinch, and a variety of other toe-tapping tunes to set the mood for a Wintery Wonderland! Conducted by Paul Laprade, Assistant Professor of Music at USF.

Joliet Symphony Orchestra – “A Classic Concert”

The Joliet Symphony Orchestra (JSO) performs a concert of classics from the symphony repertoire, including many familiar and beloved works as well as new works destined to become classics. The concert will also feature Noelle Klima, flautist, winner of the JSO Concerto Competition. Excerpts from Bizet’s beloved Carmen will join works by Mozart, Strauss, Berlioz and others in this exciting concert conducted by Dr. Dianna Fiore, director of orchestra at USF.

Christmas at the Motherhouse “One Child – A Centennial Concert of Premieres”

The University of St. Francis begins the celebration of its centennial with a concert of premieres! USF’s own Claritas Master Chorale, Schola Cantorum, and Swinging Saints will join forces to sing about the birth of Jesus, one child, a moment that changed the world. The concert will include new versions of familiar pieces and will feature premieres of “One Child” and Dr. Robert Kase’s “Dance in the Light”, a work written especially for this concert celebration!
