New Restaurant Replacing Truth On Jefferson Street
After efforts to sell Truth were unsuccessful, a sign advertising the property was available for lease recently appeared in the window.
JOLIET, IL — Truth was regarded as one of Joliet's finest restaurants but after 17 years of serving meals at the corner of Jefferson and Raynor, it closed amid the pandemic. The owners found no takers at their original asking price of $499,000.
Now, just weeks after a "for lease" sign appeared in the window, a large banner is stretched across the awning, alerting motorists that Truth is becoming Mariscos El Pulpo Estilo Nayarit.
The restaurant is located at 808 W. Jefferson St. At the time it closed, Truth had an impressive rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 stars, based on 202 Google Reviews.

The addition of Mariscos El Pulpo marks the second major announcement of a new Mexican restaurant opening soon on Joliet's west side in recent weeks.
In September, Joliet Patch reported that the Barolo Italian restaurant on Black Road was sold and that Mariscos El Vallartazo, a West Chicago Mexican seafood restaurant that features regular live entertainment, confirmed that it was taking over the Barolo property.

In other noteworthy Joliet restaurants news, Joliet Patch reported last week that the sons of the owner of Louis' Family Restaurant will be opening their own restaurant called Louie's Waffle House at the old Bob Evans along Larkin Avenue.
Patch also reported that Rico Wilson will be opening JD's BBQ on Ruby Street at the former Chicago Style Grill location.
