Obituary: Carolann A. Hoffman

Carolann A. Hoffman

Carolann A. Hoffman, nee Szabo, age 76, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 16, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.

Born April 7, 1949, in Joliet, she was the daughter of Francis and Florence (Mitok) Szabo, and was a graduate of Joliet Central High School.

She met the love of her life, Lawrence L. Hoffman, and they were married August 9, 1969, at St. Mary Carmelite Church, Joliet. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage until her passing.

Carolann was a homemaker before beginning her career as a Pharmacy Technician for Kmart in New Lenox, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend, she kept her tablet close by and enjoyed working on crosswords and word finds. She was also an avid reader of many different types of novels. Over the years, she also raised and cared for a number of Golden Retriever dogs, whom she dearly loved.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Lawrence L. Hoffman; her loving son, Timothy Hoffman; her dear sister, Rosemarie (the late Stanley) Korwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Francis Szabo; and sister, Kathleen Szabo.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carolann Hoffman will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway Street, Joliet. Interment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice (www.lightways.org) would be appreciated.
