Retired carpenter and avid sports fan passes away suddenly at the age of 61.

Daniel Joseph Erce, age 61, of Spring Valley, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 13th, 2023.
Born in Chicago, IL on January 26th, 1962, he was the youngest child of the late Donald and Alfreda (Daniels) Erce. Dan attended Morton West High School and settled down in Hinsdale and ultimately Minooka, IL. With over 30 years of dedication and service, he retired from the Carpenters Union (Local 10). Although he stepped away, it didn't cause him to distance himself in anyway. He took pride in the brotherhood that was created and connected with his friends and coworkers often. Retirement led him to a life filled with serving his community, taking pride in his sons, sharing pictures of his grandchildren, and raving about his family to anyone that would listen.

Dan was an avid sports fan. Although he was loyal to the Sox, Blackhawks, Heat, and the Patriots, he enjoyed all sports, teaching his sons tennis and going to any game. Regardless of his health, he always made sure to check in on his loved ones often.
Dan leaves behind sons Daniel Ryan (Morgan Carlson), Shaun Michael (Cassie Hooks), and Casey Patrick (Katie Fry); grandchildren, Harper Madison & Carter Davidson; sister, Donna (Dieter Fahrenbach); brother, David (Patty Polivka), and several nieces and nephews.
Dan will be missed more than words can express. He has left his mark on each person he has encountered on his life’s journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to anyone but Joe Biden (kidding but Dan would appreciate it).
Memorial Gathering will be Saturday, August 26 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Eulogy and Sharing of Memories at 6:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL. Interment will be private.
