Obituary: Donald James Patton

A longtime Joliet resident and dedicated family man, passes away at the age of 71.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donald James Patton

Age 71, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, August 24, 2023. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin to the late Mary and Floyd Patton.

Don is the beloved husband of nearly 50 years to Pamela (nee Conlin) Patton; loving father of Jennifer Vallee (Mason Garner) and Christopher (Kimberlee) Patton; proud grandfather of Bailey, Zephyr, the late Lulu Patton, and Sarah Vallee. He is also survived by sisters, Mary (Fred) Hill, Micki Klasen, and Sue Skolnick (Tim); brothers, David and Dennis (Patty) Patton as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his precious granddaughter, Lulu at birth.

Don retired from the Railway of Crest Hill after many years of dedicated service. He was previously employed by the Milwaukee RR and spent his career (since age 16) with the railroad.

A die-hard Chicago Bears fan, his passion for the “Monsters of the Midway” was only outmatched by the love and devotion he held for his family.

A visitation for Donald Patton will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) in Joliet, IL. A closing prayer at 7:00 p.m. will conclude the evening.

As it was Don’s wish, cremation rites will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to PDSA.org (Platelet Disorder Support Association).
