Joan (nee Cora) Dolinsek
Joan Dolinsek, age 82, passed away suddenly at her home in Joliet on Saturday, August 12, 2023, after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer. Joan was born in Joliet on June 22, 1941, to the late Henry and Theodore Cora, and was a lifelong area resident. Joan worked for many years for ComEd as a Mechanic retiring in 1996. It was there that she made many dear friends, and most importantly met her husband Lawrence Dolinsek. The two were married in February 1989, and celebrated 21 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Joan was beloved by family and friends alike. She had an amazing sense of humor with a razor sharp wit. She will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Joan is survived by her children, Joe (Linda) Troha, Steven (Julie) Troha, Elizabeth (John) Gaspari, and Lisa (Ron Jr.) Mentzer; her grandchildren, Tyler (Kacie) Troha, Taylor Troha, Trevor Troha, Kourtney Troha, Cody Troha, Scott (Lindsay) Gaspari, Nicholas (Aileen) Gaspari, Holly (Brian) Brunner, Keegan (Kelsey) Gaspari, Zach Mentzer, Matt Mentzer, Nick Mentzer, and Chris Mentzer; her sister, Susan Nemanik; brothers Tim (Lori) Cora and Charlie (Mary) Cora; longtime friend Judy Nordberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Dolinsek; her parents Henry and Theo; sister, Nancy Crowther; and brother, Tom Cora.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stephanie Birsa and Theresa Govoni, for the special care given to their mother these last sixth months.
Visitation for Joan Dolinsek will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Road in Joliet, IL. Funeral services will take place the following morning, Thursday, August 17, 2023, leaving the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. and processing to St. Paul Catholic Church, Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
