Obituary: Josefina Saldivar

She was a wonderful and loving mother who was a very strong person, a hard worker, as well as a truly sweet person.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Josefina Saldivar, age 41, late of Lindenhurst, and formerly of Joliet, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 12, 1984, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Frank and Elena (Napoles) Hernandez. She spent her early life in Chicago before her family returned to Mexico, where she completed her secondary education, and then returned to the Chicago area in 2003.

Josefina enjoyed a rewarding career with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in their Naperville offices, where she served as a Customer Service Representative, a position she enjoyed very much, until her illness no longer permitted her to work.

She was a wonderful and loving mother who was a very strong person, a hard worker, as well as a truly sweet person. Following the death of her husband in 2018, she devoted all of her energy to raising her two children and seeing that they were well provided for, including taking on a second job. She tried to give her family the best life possible.

Surviving are her loving children, Marissa and Rogelio; her parents, Frank and Elena Hernandez; her brothers and sisters, Monica, Mercedes, Victoria, Guadalupe, Monico, Angelica, and Anna; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rogelio Saldivar, on October 31, 2018.

Visitation for Josefina will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. A committal ceremony will be held Monday, June 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Resurrection Mausoleum, 200 W. Romeo Road (135th Street), Romeoville, IL.
