Obituary: Leslie L. McBride Jr.

Leslie lived a life full of compassion, service, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Leslie L. McBride Jr.

Leslie L. McBride Jr., passed away at the age of 76, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at his home in Shorewood surrounded by the love of his family. Leslie was born on September 5, 1948, in Murphysboro, IL, the son of the late Leslie and Lucille (nee Callais) McBride. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for six years.

Leslie retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of dedicated service. He could fix anything and do anything he put his mind to. Leslie loved fishing, antiquing, woodworking, traveling, and above all else, spending time with his family. He accepted his illnesses with dignity and fought a graceful fight.

Leslie is survived by his wife, Judy, his best friend and love of his life for 59 years. They happily celebrated 55 years of marriage. Also surviving are his children, Lee McBride, Danny McBride, and Mark (Kari) McBride; grandchildren, Sean, Liam, Kevin (Jessica), Bailey(Grace) Passarelli, Brody, Madalyn Veenstra (Robert Finch) , and Emily Veenstra; sister, Joyce Giovanini; sisters-in-law, Carol Cage, and JoAnn Juricich; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael John McBride; sister, Louise (Joe) Nemensky; father-in law and mother –in-law, John and Theresa Juricich; and brothers-in-law, John Giovanini, John Juricich, and Lynwood Cage

Those wishing to make memorial contributions, may make them in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will be held.
