She was a woman of grace and endless kindness whose memory will be treasured always.

Lois M. Bucciferro, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Cottages of New Lenox. She was born on June 21, 1930, to the late Lawrence and Frances (nee Baltz) Testin. Born and raised in Joliet, Lois was a graduate of St. Francis Academy and the St. Joseph School of Nursing, and was a long-time parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. She retired after a long, rewarding career as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital. Lois married the love of her, Dominic Bucciferro, life in 1957, and spent 58 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2016.

In her free time, Lois enjoyed being outside tending to her garden, playing bingo, and always loved the challenge of putting together a puzzle. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved spending time with her family!

Lois is survived by her six children, Mary (Harold) Kazier, Donna (the late Joseph) Murdie, James (Judy), John (Kathy), Joseph (Sheri), and Robert (Paula) Bucciferro; grandchildren, Theresa (Peter) Oberding, Sarah (Eddie) Panozzo, Brittany (Derek) Heckler, Nathan (Katie) Kazier, Morgan (Matt) Bucciferro Hamilton, Anthony (Monique) Bucciferro, Selah Bucciferro, Amy Bucciferro, Michael (Maralys) Murdie, Matthew Bucciferro, Dr. Isabella Bucciferro, Dominic Bucciferro, and Julia Bucciferro; her great-grandchildren, Mae, Sophia, Grant, Eliana, Cecilia, Ethan, Sidney, Viggo, Lachlan, Louise, and Ruby; and her brother, Raymond Testin. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Bucciferro; her sister, Frances (Bernie) Clennon; brothers, Joe (Bunny) Testin and Paul (Anna Mae) Testin; sister-in-law, Marlene Testin.

Those who knew Lois will remember her for her unwavering kindness, thoughtfulness, and the deep love she had for her family. Her gentle spirit and warm heart touched everyone she met, and her memory will be treasured always.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at The Cottages of New Lenox for the love and care they showed for Lois and her entire family.

Funeral Services for Lois M. Bucciferro will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet, to The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow St. Mary Cemetery, Minooka. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
