Obituary: Lynn LaBuda

Well known hostess for Syl's Restaurant and a longtime Rockdale resident passed away at the age of 78.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Linda M. “Lynn” LaBuda, age 78, of Rockdale, passed away on Wednesday, August 9 2023, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center.

Lynn was born January 22, 1945, in Marshalltown, IA and has been a Joliet area resident since 1957. She started working at Syl's Restaurant in Rockdale in 1966, and spent 53 years of dedicated service with them before retiring. Lynn was a member of the Church of St. Jude along with the Rockdale Band Parents Association, where she was the past President, the South Wilmington Sportsman's Club, and Dale Athletic Club.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Renee LaBuda; granddaughter, Kelsey LaBuda; a nephew and Godson, Phillip Loetscher; and many friends including Kimberli Conder and Gary Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond T. LaBuda; two sons, Tim LaBuda and Frank LaBuda; sister, Eileen Loetscher; her father, Edward Nelson; foster mother, Gladys Rudisill; and nephew, Larry Loetscher.

Visitation for Lynn LaBuda will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In addition, a Celebration of the Life of Lynn LaBuda will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Dale Athletic Club, 704 Moen Avenue, Rockdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Morning Star Mission would be appreciated.
