Monica Renee Murphy, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois, at the age of 58. Monica was born on February 28, 1967, in Joliet, IL, where she grew up and was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, actively involved as a cheerleader and baton twirler. She brought warmth, laughter, and a radiant smile to every life she touched. Her infectious energy and loving spirit made her a cherished presence wherever she went.
Monica dedicated her professional life to helping others, most recently serving as a Benefits Specialist with Ins Zone Insurance. Her career also included many faithful years with State Farm, where she formed lasting connections with clients and colleagues alike. Monica had a unique gift of forming friendships wherever she worked and lived—a true social butterfly whose vibrant personality was impossible to forget.

Monica is survived by her children, Matt (Kayla) Murphy, Erin (Steve) McGraw, and Michael Murphy; as well as her adoring grandchildren, Brady, Cody, Reese, McKenna, Rylee, and Colton. She cherished every moment spent with her family who she fiercley protected. Her unwavering love and nurturing spirit enriched their lives, creating a legacy of warmth and compassion.
Monica is also survived by her beloved siblings, Mike (Connie) Marquez, Sandra (the late Juan) Suarez, and John (Kathy) Romo; along with her in-laws, Tom Alamillo, Dawn Sanchez,and Arlene Marquez, and , longtime partner, Mike Berta A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, including those who knew her as a loyal friend. She brought joy and kindness into the lives of everyone she encountered, creating lasting bonds with all of her dearest friends and their children. Her warm spirit and generous heart became a source of comfort and support, making her an integral part of their lives. The laughter and love she shared with them will be profoundly missed, as she held a special place not only in the hearts of her family but also in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Henrietta (nee Sanchez); her siblings, Kena Alamillo, Robert Sanchez, and Tony Marquez; and her dear friend Patty Adler.
With her guiding presence and memorable laugh, Monica will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, joyous gatherings, and a smile that could light up the darkest room.
A Memorial Gathering for Monica Renee Murphy will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 1:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
