Obituary: Nikolaos Kapsimalis

Dedicated family man and car artist enthusiast passes away peacefully at the age of 76.

Nikolaos Kapsimalis

Nikolaos Kapsimalis, of Chesterton, IN, formerly of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully, at the age of 76, on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. Niko was born in Tripoli, Arkadias, Greece, on November 25, 1948, the son of the late Dimitrios and Galatia (nee Paleologou) Kapsimalis.

Niko was a loyal and hardworking man with an amazing sense of humor. He was proud to have his family and supported them in every way he was able. It brought him joy to help others. He loved to make people laugh and made friends wherever he went. He was a terrific gardener and offered his gardening skills to many. Niko also enjoyed drawing cars. He would use any materials, even napkins, to draw his unique car designs.

Niko is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dena (nee Ktenas) Kapsimalis; two daughters, Helen (Jeremy) Sisk and Jamie (Brian) Domaracki; grandchildren, Eli Sisk, and Michael, Jessica and Nikolaos Domaracki; siblings, Zoi (the late George) Tsaliangos, Eleni (the late Tasos) Veve, and Kostas Kapsimalis; and his sister-in-law, Joann Kapsimalis. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his parents; and brother, Athanasios Kapsimalis.

Funeral Services for Nikolaos Kapsimalis will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 6:00 p.m.
