Obituary: Paulette L. McCarthy

Former ComEd and Fisher Body and Illinois Bell employee passes away at the age of 80.

Paulette L. McCarthy

Age 80, of Joliet, Illinois, passed from this life, Thursday October 23, 2025 at St. Joseph Medical Center.

She was born October 27, 1944 to the late Gladys and Paul Havens in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Shortly after birth her family relocated to Spokane, Washington where Paulette resided until moving as a young teen to New Lenox, Illinois. She lived in the Joliet area most of her life.

Paulette is the beloved mother of John E. (Kiki Guo) McCarthy, Jr; loving and devoted grandmother of Bon, Levi, Megan and Shane Turnbaugh; and proud great-grandmother of Dawson, Amelia, Alanna and Desmond Quaresima and Derrick, Amayiah and Jax Turnbaugh.

Preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Gina Lynn McCarthy Turnbull, her parents and her husband, John McCarthy, Sr.

Paulette retired from Commonwealth Edison and was previously employed at Fisher Body and Illinois Bell, giving each company 13 years of dependable attention to detail. Her post retirement job at Cornerstone Services afforded her a great deal of peace and purpose.

Visitation for Paulette L. McCarthy will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd), Joliet, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her memorial service at 11:30 a.m.
