Obituary: Vera Miller

Beloved Joliet resident passes away at age 94.

Vera Kathleen Miller, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Lightways Hospice Facility in Joliet. Vera was born in Chicago on November 17, 1928, to the late John and Kathleen Dalton. On November 8, 1952, she married William Miller, and the two celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

Vera is lovingly survived by her six children, Nancy (Kenneth) Wruk, Peg (the late Kevin) Worland, William (Peg) Miller, Kathleen (Tony) Medved, Patricia (Robert) Drysch, and Ann (Christopher) Patti; her 10 grandchildren, Katie Wruk, Colleen (Matt) Clementi, Mark (Nicole) Miller, Sarah Miller, Mallory (Kevin) Whaley, Tony (Rian) Medved, Matthew Drysch, Ryan Drysch, Connor Patti, and Catherine Patti; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jean Darin, Jyme Miller, Carole Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William F. Miller; her parents; brothers, Robert Dalton, Emmett (Betty) Dalton, and Jack (Jane) Dalton; and brothers-in-law, James Miller, Robert Miller, and Raymond Darin.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Vera’s life on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Joliet, with visiting time from 10:00 a.m. until her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Vera will be laid to rest alongside her husband William. Memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet.
