Older Woman Beaten After Rejecting Sexual Advances: Police
The 64-year-old woman was attacked by her ex-roommate Richard Redmond, 42, in the 700 block of South Des Plaines Street, police said.

JOLIET, IL — Richard Redmond Jr., a 42-year-old Joliet resident, was arrested early Sunday morning after Joliet police say he attacked a 64-year-old woman, threatening to kill her after she rejected Redmond's sexual advances.
Redmond was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery to a senior citizen and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
Joliet police were notified of the disturbance around 2:35 a.m. in the 700 block of South Des Plaines Street. Redmond attacked his ex-roommate, police reports show.

"Redmond grew angry after the victim had refused his sexual advances," police spokesman Dwayne English indicated. "The victim demanded that Redmond leave the home, and she attempted to call 911."
According to police, Redmond threatened to kill the woman, knocking the phone from her hands. Redmond got on top of the woman on her bed and began choking her to the point of losing consciousness, police reports reflect.

The woman eventually called 911 and Redmond ran from the house, according to police.
Officers found Redmond in the 700 block of South Joliet Street and placed him into custody without any problems, English noted.
Will County Jail logs show that Redmond lives in the 700 block of South Joliet. His bail was set at $150,000.
