Paranormal Tours At Joliet Prison Now Underway

Joliet Area Historical Museum teams up with Chicago Hauntings to bring you a terrifying experience.

JOLIET, IL - Just in time for the Halloween witching season, paranormal tours are now underway at the Old Joliet Prison. The Joliet Area Historical Museum has teamed up with Chicago Hauntings to bring more visitors to the prison during the months of October and November for a unique experience once the sun goes down.

"Tours and ghost hunts are presented on an extremely limited basis, by appointment, and are first come, first serve. Recommended for guests ages 12 and up," the promotional brochure reads.

Joliet historical museum director Greg Peerbolte told Joliet Patch he believes there will be strong interest throughout the Chicago area for these new events.

"We're elated to bring the paranormal element to the prison experience for the autumn season," Peerbolte said. "We've had an influx of interest in this subject and it was important that we introduced a Halloween activity to draw further attention to the prison project at this critical early stage.

"The prison transforms into a different place after dark and Chicago Hauntings will provide a unique experience that immerses a visitor in decades of reported paranormal activity while still staying true to the site's incredible history."
