Pedestrian Killed On Joliet's Route 30 Identified: Coroner

Two people were run over at different locations on the east side of Joliet last week.

JOLIET, IL —A 51-year-old man who was walking near a busy Joliet intersection at night along Route 30 last week has been identified as Robbie Klapp. The Will County Coroner's Office said Klapp was walking east along Cass Street and he was struck by two vehicles near Walnut Street on Wednesday. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance rushed the Joliet man to the Silver Cross Hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead.

The Joliet Fire Department told Patch that Klapp was injured around 8 p.m. on Oct. 7.

The Joliet Police Department continues to investigate the fatality, the coroner's office said.

Klapp's death was one of two in the city of Joliet last week involving pedestrians. On Monday, Oct. 5, a 16-year-old Joliet boy riding his bicycle was struck by a utility truck along Route 53.
