Pit Bull Cruelty Case In Joliet: Police
Joliet Police began the investigation in September.

JOLIET, IL - A 41-year-old Joliet resident has been charged with cruelty to animals in connection with allegations of leaving their pit bulls malnourished. The Joliet Police Department issued two compliance tickets against Kizzie Bass for cruelty to animals and for kenneling three or more dogs.
According to police reports, officers responded to the 2700 block of Fairway on Sept. 13 for a dog roaming at large. That night, Joliet officers found a gray and white pit bull that "was very skinny, aggressive and had a collar with what appeared to be a metal leash or chain dragging on the ground," police said.
Next, the officers went to the owner's house and found two more pit bulls in the yard.

"All of the animals appeared malnourished and were aggressive towards officers. Officers were able to secure the animals and discovered that there was no water, food or proper shelter for the animals. The animal’s fur was matted and uncared for. The house were the animals were located appeared not to be occupied or no one had been by to care for the animals for some time," police reports stated.
Joliet's Animal Control was summoned to take possession of the dogs. Eventually, police determined that Bass was the caretaker of these dogs, reports state.
