Plainfield Area Man Chokes Relative During Domestic: Joliet Cops

JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Plainfield area man is no longer in custody in connection with his felony domestic violence arrest from Friday afternoon. Joliet police arrested John Palomino and booked him into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery.

His bail was set at $10,000, jail logs show.

According to Joliet police, officers were called to Palomino's house in the 6400 block of Silver Ridge Drive for a domestic disturbance. Palomino had attacked a woman, police said.

"During a disturbance at the home, Palomino choked the victim with both hands, making it difficult for her to breathe," police spokesman Dwayne English announced. The victim and a teenage girl ran from the house and called 911, police said.

Joliet officers found Palomino at the residence and placed him into custody. The victim had visible injuries, but she refused medical assistance, English said.

Palomino was released from the jail over the weekend after posting 10 percent of his $10,000 bail.
