Police: Grebic Caught Stealing Xbox Controllers At Best Buy

Joshua Grebic previously did prison time for a 2015 armed robbery, Will County records show.

JOLIET, IL - A 24-year-old man who served time in prison for his role in a 2015 armed robbery on the Old Plank Trail is back in Will County's detention center. Ex-convict Joshua Grebic got arrested on Tuesday afternoon by the Joliet Police Department. He's now charged with two felony retail thefts at the Best Buy near the Louis Joliet Mall. The incident transpired in the 3300 block of Mall Loop Drive, according to Joliet Police. Inside the Best Buy, Grebic is suspected of grabbing a half dozen Xbox controllers and placing them into a plastic bag that he brought with him into the store.

"Loss prevention was watching him," Joliet's Deputy Chief of Police Edgar Gregory explained.

Eventually, Grebic tried to walk out of the store and that's when Best Buy's security force emerged and stopped the suspected Xbox thief, police said. Officers took the convicted criminal Grebic into custody. All six of the Xbox devices were recovered. The merchandise that Grebic stands accused of stealing was worth $450, Gregory said.
