The contest is open to amateur photographers over the age of 18 and photos must be taken in a Forest Preserve District of Will County site.

The Forest Preserve District's sixth annual Preserve the Moment photo contest begins Saturday, May 1, and runs through Dec. 31.
Winners will be chosen monthly and eight finalists' photos will vie for top honors in January via public voting on the District's Facebook page. The contest showcases the beauty of Will County
preserves and the flora and fauna they protect.
The contest showcases the beauty of Will County preserves and the flora and fauna they protect. Photos from past contests have included birds in flight, colorful flowers in bloom, mammals in all of their splendor, visually breathtaking landscapes and the tiniest of insects.
The contest's overall winners have captured a toad sitting on a toadstool, a bright red cardinal surrounded by stark white snowflakes, a mother squirrel hugging her baby and a slithery sunbathing snake.
