Joliet's Raising Cane's was built on the property that formerly served as the Diamand's Family Restaurant for about 30 years. Diamand's closed during the worldwide pandemic and never reopened. Last summer, it was torn down.
The new Raising Cane's will feature a double-drive thru. It becomes the latest big-name restaurant to open in Joliet. Pop's Italian Beef opened at 1866 West Jefferson St. in late January and Portillo's opened its triple drive-thru at 1444 North Larkin Ave. on Feb. 1.

Shorewood Getting Raising Cane's
Raising Cane's is also expected to open a new restaurant in Shorewood along Route 59. Raising Cane's plans to tear down the vacant bank near the Chili's restaurant and build its new restaurant there, with a targeted opening of Aug. 23.
So far, demolition of the former bank has not begun, yet.
