Recent Will Co. Jail Inmate Dies At Silver Cross: Coroner
On June 11, Joliet police found Cory Long in a backyard in the 400 block of Mohawk Avenue. Long continued to ignore the officer's commands.

JOLIET, IL — Less than two weeks after Joliet police officers used a taser to zap Cory Long into submission during an arrest, the 29-year-old Joliet resident has died at Silver Cross Hospital.
Will County Coroner Laurie Summers made the announcement on her Facebook page, giving no indication if the death is considered a homicide, suicide, accidental or undetermined. She indicated he died at 11:14 a.m. Saturday.
"The Will County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the incident. Final cause and manner will be determined after police, medical record and toxicological reports are completed," she wrote.

Long was in the Will County Jail, most recently, from June 11-16. At that time, he posted his bond to regain his freedom. Long was also in the jail on May 8 and back in 2019 and 2015.
On June 13, Joliet Patch reported that Joliet police officers used their Taser to zap 29-year-old resident Cory Long after he ran from a traffic stop in the Ridgewood Area, arrest reports show. Long was already facing a warrant for his arrest out of Grundy County.

Joliet police arrested Long over Sunday's lunch hour on charges of obstructing a peace officer, aggravated resisting a peace officer, obstructing justice and the Grundy County warrant.
