Revenge Pornographer Spares Victim Embarrassment: Lawyer

Criminal defendant Stephen Soderborg taught in Lockport.

JOLIET, IL - Former Lockport High School teacher Stephen Soderborg has an opportunity to have his revenge pornography conviction absolved from his permanent record if he complies with the conditions of his sentence set forth Monday at the Will County Courthouse. Soderborg, now 30, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime of engaging in revenge pornography involving his ex-girlfriend.

As part of the plea agreement with prosecutors, Soderborg was sentenced on the offense of attempted non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images.

On Tuesday, Patch interviewed the criminal defendant's lawyer, Jeff Tomczak of Tomczak Law Office in Joliet. Tomczak said that his client was given two years of court supervision. Soderborg must also undergo anger management counseling. Furthermore, he must perform 50 hours of community service at a place that helps victims of domestic violence, his lawyer explained.

"We think this is a good disposition for our client, and it does not result on a conviction on his record," Tomczak told Patch. "This trial would have been very embarrassing for all the parties, and my client did not want to put the victim through any further embarrassment."

In January 2017, Patch reported that Soderborg posted a nude photo of his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend to the website ZOIG, police said. ZOIG boasts of featuring "homemade porn, sex photos & videos, real amateurs f---ing!" and encourages users to "Upload your homemade sex or just watch user submitted porn!"

Tomczak said that Soderborg, a Mokena resident, "is no longer working as a teacher. He's employed but I'm not sure where."
