Robbery Suspect Sought By Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for 44-year-old Joliet resident Arlaine Richards on charges of burglary, attempted armed robbery and attempted robbery. On Friday, Will County Judge Daniel Kennedy issued a bench warrant and set the defendant's bail at $150,000. Court records listed an address for Richards in the 700 block of Oakland Avenue, which is near St. Joe's Park.

The criminal complaint indicates Richards was armed with a dangerous weapon, a knife, on Sept. 3 when he tried to take cash from a man "by threatening the imminent use of force, in that he put said knife on the neck of (the victim) and demanded (the man) turn over his money."

The burglary charge indicates Richards entered a white Chevrolet Express Van, also on Sept. 3, "with the intent to commit therein a theft."

As of Tuesday, Sept. 17, Arlaine Richards remained at large in the community.

He was previously incarcerated at the Will County Jail between Dec. 19, 2018 and March 2, 2019 after being arrested by Joliet Police on charges of theft and battery causing bodily harm, jail records indicate.
